Sekata Kopi, Gula Aren: An Opinon

So today, when I ordered some white bread for usually three days morning snacks for my son, I noticed that the bakery also sells some beverages. One of them is a bottled palm sugar coffee. I decided to buy a bottle out of curiosity. Two white loaves of bread, one bottle of coffee with GrabFood delivery cost about 4.15$11US$ = Rp 14,406.75 as of August 22, 2021 after the discount.

From the looks of its bottle, it seems that it uses that mass-produced 250ml plastic bottle which is common by the local home beverage industry. The seal on the bottle cap is almost useless and in this case, it didn’t break and stick to the bottle cap when I twisted it. Although I must praise the printed label is quite in good quality. It printed its Instagram account @sakata.kopi. Then I raised my eyebrow when I see a checkmark on the expired date area. Huh, why?

That checkmark tho…

It tastes pretty much OK.

I don’t know much about the complexity of coffee beans but the coffee feels light, maybe it’s a bit more diluted in water before mixed with milk and palm sugar. The sweetness is right for me with enough palm sugar flavor. The milk is quite thick but still acceptable.

My final verdict: It’s a good coffee for a casual drink. It’s pretty cheap and still far better than the canned NescafĂ© that are commonly sold in the convenience stores. Since the coffee feels light, I think it will take three bottles to keep me away from drowsiness.
